HELP with P90x diet! I really wanna start soon?

I'm 5"7 153 lbs it says I should be taking in 2424 cal. which puts me in Level 2 phase 1....that really seems like a ton or calories? Also when my weight decreases do I move down to level 1 becasue I am right on the line of level 2.
Does anyone take the slimming formula OR any other supplements? how are the differeent from the other diet pills. Any suggestions on recipes for that level? Any help would truly make me greatful....

it seemed like a ton of calories to me as well when I first began. by the middle of week one you will want those calories because you are burning off so much. however buy 3 days worth of food and it will last you a week. when you get maybe a month in I would recheck if you need to stay in level 2 or move to level one. I take whey protein in my protein drinks and i use chocolate milk as my recovery drink. I've liked pretty much all the recipes I've tried from the book. I didn't really like the squash soup, but everything else i've made so far was really good. I'm on week 5
